Abstract:
A “baby boomer,” Mary Myers was born and raised in California. She was trained in traffic management at the Oakland Army Base (OAB) and worked there in the Cargo Operations Division, eventually becoming a manager of other employees. Myers continued to work at the OAB through its closure and thus was in a good position to comment upon the effects of closure on employees and surrounding community.
