Abstract:
John Compisi was born in 1948 and became a career Army officer beginning in 1971. Compisi was stationed a multiple bases in the United States and abroad before coming to the Bay Area in the 1980s where he was assigned to the Military Traffic Management Command and supervised civilian marine cargo specialists. Compisi was sent to Okinawa in 1990 but returned to the OAB in 1999 to assist with the base’s closure. In this interview, Compisi details his career in the military and discuss life on the OAB and technological changes that he witnessed.
