Abstract:
John Nicoles is an East Bay native and was a surveyor for the East Bay Regional Park District employee. In this interview, he discusses his early life growing up in Berkeley, California, family, education, interest in forestry, joining the EBPRD as a surveryor, the eucalyptus freeze in 1972 and its longterm consequences, the district’s management of natural resources, and his hopes for the future of the parklands.
