Abstract:
Becky Carlson is a longtime mounted patrol volunteer for the East Bay Regional Park Discrict. She was born in 1956 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She moved to the Bay Area in 1983 on assignment with the Navy, for whom she worked as a legal assistant, and later, in personnel at the Alameda Naval Base. She began volunteering at the Las Trampas stable in the East Bay Regional Park District and taking her horse on trail rides through the parks. In this interview, she discusses her early involvement with the district, trail riding, working with the mounted patrol, and becoming a competitive endurance rider.
